Ettel Sussman was a Polish-born Israeli violinist, singer, composer and teacher. She studied violin for several years before training to become a vocalist in Tel Aviv with Ely Kurz. She studied harmony and counterpoint in Lyons, France with organist Marcel Pehu and orchestration with Jacques Boisgallais. She earned first prizes for singing and lyric art at the Lyon Conservatory in 1946 and 1947. Two years later, she was named Laureate d’Execution Musicale in Geneva, Switzerland. She toured the world singing opera and lieder and taught singing at the Glate Seminary for Teachers of Music after 1969.
