Rep. Sharice Davids is the co-author of the autobiographical children’s book “Sharice’s Big Voice: A Native Kid Becomes a Congresswoman” (HarperCollins Kids), which was included on Here Wee Read’s 2021 Ultimate List of Diverse Children’s Books. She is also a first-generation college graduate who earned a degree from Cornell Law School and has gone on to represent the state of Kansas as a member of Congress. Previously, Davids was a professional mixed martial artist and a White House Fellow under President Barack Obama. She is a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, and has made history by becoming the first openly LGBTQ Native American woman to serve in Congress.
