Geraldine Sewell collected plant specimens in Western Australia between 1886 and 1891 around Mount Caroline near where the family lived, and the Murchison River. She sent these specimens to Victorian Government Botanist Ferdinand von Mueller in Melbourne. Over 300 specimens are in the National Herbarium of Victoria, as are some collected by her sister Maud Amy Sewell (1875 – 1955) and her cousin Julia Sewell (c.1847 – 1914).
