Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Diane Icilda Mills.
Diane was born in Antigua and grew up in Dallas, Texas. She enlisted in the Army after graduating from high school and served from 1992 to 2003. During her time in the Army, she served as a signal support systems specialist and administrative specialist.
Diane’s tours of duty include the Army’s 121st Evacuation Hospital in Seoul, Korea and Brussels, Belgium. She also served at the Military Entrance Processing Command Station in Dallas, and 3rd Army Headquarters in Fort McPherson.
For her service, Diane received numerous medals and awards including, the Joint Service Commendation Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
After retiring from the military, Diane remains committed to serving her country through her work. She was a local Veterans representative with the Georgia Department of Labor and is currently a program support specialist with the Corporation for National and Community Service.
In her free time, she enjoys running. Her favorite quote, from Coco Chanel, is, “A woman with good shoes is never ugly.”
