Professor Virginia (Vasu) Manoviciu (b.1931) graduated with a diploma of merit, from the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry, Timisoara, Romania (1952) and went on to spend her entire career from 1954 to 1997 there, retiring as professor. Her research career was on the correlation between structure and properties of polymers, and their practical significance for applications and processing. Manoviciu studied phenol-aldehyde and urea-formaldehyde polycondensates, saturated and unsaturated polyesters, and the, then new, reactive plasticizers.
