Another early Michigan chemical engineer, Tenho Sihvonen Connable Hindert (1919-2020), but unfortunately was not able to use her degree whilst working briefly at the Shell Chemical Company in San Francisco and was refused permission to even visit the oilfields because women in those days were not allowed on the fields. After raising her family she taught computer science for 14 years at Western Michigan University.
