Professor Rama Govindarajan, now a specialist in instability and transition to turbulence of shear flows, and the physics of interfacial flows, gained her BTech in chemical engineering from IIT Delhi in 1984, MSc at Drexel University, Philadelphia (1986), and her PhD thesis in aerospace engineering from IIT Bangalore (1994). She then worked at the Department of Aeronautics at Caltech.
