The South African Navy also has its first female engineering officer on the chemical engineering side, Sub-Lieutenant Masego Mosupye. She joined as a Reserve Force student, while studying at the University of Cape Town and since graduating (2014) completed her training, to work with the Naval Engineering Section as a chemical engineer dealing with corrosion on naval vessels. She is currently Acting Section Manager Materials Engineering, at the Armscor Dockyard.
