Kathleen Marjorie de Reuck (neé Gratwick), DIC, FCGI, FINstP, CPhys, MSc, BSc (1929-2020) Not every chemical engineer comes to her specialisation via chemistry as such. Gratwick’s first degree was BSc Physics (Imperial College 1951), followed by an MSc also in physics. The move to chemical engineering came with her doctorate in 1956. From then on she was largely known for her expertise in the data of the thermo-physical properties of industrially important fluids as used in industries such as natural gas power generation and the chemical and refrigeration industries. This work was coordinated and largely published by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). She was internationally known for this work and was Deputy Director of Imperial College’s Department of Chemical Engineering from 1983-1994.
