Zimbabwean chemical engineer, Dr Fortunate Farirai, gained her BSc and MSc in Zimbabwe and her PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Her work as a Senior Research Engineer in Zimbabwe’s Energy Technology Institute at the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre led to her co-founding two energy companies. Rather unusually one is a petrol retailing company, Wise Petroleum, and the other, Sustenergy, provides renewable energy products and training in fitting them.
