Nació en Vitoria, Álava, España, el 10 de julio de 1905; muere en Madrid, España, el 27 de marzo de 1999. Narradora y poeta. Radicó en México desde 1939 [hasta 1972]. Fue traductora en el fce en Centauro y en Herrero; cofundadora de Rueca; profesora de Literatura en el Instituto de Estudios Superiores Yacatia. Perteneció a la Generación del 27. Colaboró en Gaceta Social de México, Istmo y Romance. Premio Euskadi de Poesía 1987. Premio Mujer Progresista 1987. Fue nominada al Premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Letras en 1992. Recibió la Medalla al Mérito Artístico del Ayuntamiento de Madrid en 1997.

She was born in Vitoria, Álava, Spain, on July 10, 1905; she died in Madrid, Spain, on March 27, 1999. A novelist and poet, she lived in Mexico from 1939 to 1972. She worked as a translator for the Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE) at Centauro and Herrero; she was a co-founder of the literary journal Rueca; and she taught literature at the Yacatía Institute of Higher Studies. She belonged to the Generation of ’27. She contributed to the journals Gaceta Social de México, Istmo, and Romance. She received the Euskadi Poetry Prize in 1987 and the Progressive Woman Award in 1987. She was nominated for the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature in 1992. She received the Medal of Artistic Merit from the Madrid City Council in 1997.
