Following PhD studies in the bryophyte family Aneuraceae and a number of years teaching at tertiary institutions, Helen Hewson played an integral role in the establishment and development of the Flora of Australia program of the Bureau of Flora and Fauna (later the Australian Biological Resources Study).

Fanny Charsley

Fanny Charsley was an English botanical artist and collector who spent a decade in Australia (1856 – 1866). Shortly after she returned to England she published a book of her work on Australian wild flowers titled “The Wild Flowers around Melbourne” (1867).
