Mildred Gillars (“Axis Sally”) is the first woman to be convicted of treason against the United States. The American broadcaster was employed by Nazi Germany to disseminate Axis propaganda during World War II. She was sentenced to 10 to 30 years’ imprisonment and was released in 1961.
