Anne Douglas (later Doucet) was one of the original dancers in the Denishawn modern dance company in the 1920s, leaving home at 17 to tour with them for 10 years before establishing a dance training studio in southern California with her sister. In addition to performing with the likes of Greta Garbo and Martha Graham and dancing at Carnegie Hall and the Imperial Palace of Tokyo, Doucet also performed in film. She was also an award-winning weaver for more than 50 years, inspired by textiles that she encountered while on dance tours in India and China.
