Greek American writer Arianna Huffington co-founded the eponymous Huffington Post news site in 2005, when she was 55. Although she’d been a conservative Republican earlier in her career, writing for publications like the National Review and working on her Republican politician husband’s campaign, her views increasingly moved to the left end of the political spectrum, and HuffPost was a liberal-leaning outlet from the start. With Huffington as co-founder and editor-in-chief, the site grew quickly in popularity and was acquired by AOL in 2011 for $315 million. Huffington is also a bestselling author, having published a wide range of books over the course of more than four decades.
