Estudió el Doctorado en Literatura Mexicana en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Cursó estudios de especialización en Literatura Española en el Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana de Madrid. Sus áreas de interés fueron la literatura mexicana y española de los siglos XIX y XX y la escritura autobiográfica. Publicó los libros colectivos: La misión del escritor, Historiografía de la Literatura Mexicana, La República de las Letras, publicados por la UNAM; La literatura del otro fin de siglo y Narrativa mexicana del siglo XIX, publicados por el COLMEX. Entre sus publicaciones individuales destacan Manuel Payno, 2003; Kinetoscopio, las crónicas de Ángel de Campo en El Universal (1896), 2004; Justo Sierra: Una escritura tocada por la gracia, 2009; Catorce escritoras mexicanas frente a sus lectores, 2010; La vida en México en el siglo XIX (1812–1910) y La vida en México en el siglo XIX (1849–1900). En mayo de 2009 fue profesora invitada a la Cátedra Luis Cernuda de la Universidad de Sevilla. De 1998 a 2003 se desempeñó como Jefa de la División de Estudios Profesionales de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras FFYL (UNAM). Fue coordinadora del proyecto PAPIME: Escritura autobiográfica en México en el siglo XIX y XX, y miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores SNI.
She earned her doctorate in Mexican Literature from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She also pursued specialized studies in Spanish Literature at the Institute for Ibero-American Cooperation in Madrid. Her areas of interest were 19th- and 20th-century Mexican and Spanish literature and autobiographical writing. She contributed to the anthologies The Writer’s Mission, Historiography of Mexican Literature, and The Republic of Letters, published by UNAM; and Literature of the Other End of the Century and 19th-Century Mexican Narrative, published by COLMEX. Her individual publications include Manuel Payno, 2003; Kinetoscope: The Chronicles of Ángel de Campo in El Universal (1896), 2004; Justo Sierra : A Writing Touched by Grace, 2009; and Fourteen Mexican Women Writers Facing Their Readers, 2010. Life in Mexico in the 19th Century (1812–1910) and Life in Mexico in the 19th Century ( 1849–1900 ). In May 2009, she was a visiting professor at the Luis Cernuda Chair at the University of Seville. From 1998 to 2003, she served as Head of the Division of Professional Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (FFYL, UNAM). She coordinated the PAPIME project: Autobiographical Writing in Mexico in the 19th and 20th Centuries, and was a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI).
