Nació en Tampico, Tamaulipas, el 5 de julio de 1933; muere en la Ciudad de México, el 10 de mayo de 2014. Poeta. Estudió Letras Alemanas y la maestría en Letras Mexicanas en la FFyL de la UNAM y una especialización en el Goethe Institut de Munich, Alemania. Su poesía ha sido grabada en la colección “Voz Viva de México”, UNAM, 1990. Colaboradora de El Nacional, Katarsis, Letras Potosinas y Unomásuno. De 1996 al año 2000 fue directora de la revista Armas y Letras, de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León y actualmente es consejera editorial de la misma. Becaria de Televisa en Londres, 1979. Premio Xavier Villaurrutia 1984 por su trayectoria poética. En 1989 el Gobierno de Nuevo León le otorgó la Medalla al Mérito Cívico por su labor a favor de la literatura, coordinando talleres literarios para niños y adultos en las bibliotecas públicas y en las colonias populares. En 1999 recibió el Premio a Las Artes, en la rama de Letras, que otorga la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. Su obra literaria aparece en múltiples antologías, entre ellas Poetas tamaulipecas de siglo XX, La violencia del otoño y Los primeros once. El Consejo para la Cultura y las Artes de Nuevo León, con el apoyo y unión de los estados del noreste de México, instituyó en 2004 el Premio Literario Carmen Alardín.
Born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, on July 5, 1933, she died in Mexico City on May 10, 2014. Poet. She studied German Literature and a Master’s degree in Mexican Literature at the FFyL of the UNAM and a specialization at the Goethe Institut in Munich, Germany. Her poetry has been recorded in the collection “Voz Viva de México”, UNAM, 1990. Collaborator of El Nacional, Katarsis, Letras Potosinas and Unomásuno. From 1996 to 2000 she was director of the magazine Armas y Letras, of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and is currently its editorial advisor. Televisa fellow in London, 1979. Xavier Villaurrutia Award 1984 for her poetic career. In 1989, the Government of Nuevo León awarded her the Medal of Civic Merit for her work in favor of literature, coordinating literary workshops for children and adults in public libraries and popular neighborhoods. In 1999, she received the Prize for the Arts, in the field of Letters, awarded by the Autonomous University of Nuevo León. Her literary work appears in multiple anthologies, including Tamaulipas Poets of the 20th Century, The Violence of Autumn, and The First Eleven. The Council for Culture and the Arts of Nuevo León, with the support and union of the states of northeastern Mexico, instituted the Carmen Alardín Literary Prize in 2004.
