Investigadora, académica, traductora y editora mexicana. Realizó sus estudios de educación básica, media y media superior en el Colegio Alemán. Maestra y Doctora en Filosofía por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México unam. Su campo de investigación se centró en la historia de las ideas, particularmente de los primeros evangelizadores. Ingresó a la Academia Mexicana de la Lengua aml como miembro de número el 11 de noviembre de 2004. Fue la 9° ocupante de la silla número xiv.
Fue profesora de Historia y Filosofía en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras ffyl de la unam e investigadora en el Centro Coordinador y Difusor de Estudios Latinoamericanos ccydel (unam). Destacó por su labor editorial en el Fondo de Cultura Económica fce, Siglo xxi y la unam. Tradujo alemán, inglés, francés, italiano, catalán y latín.
Autora de una decena de libros. Fue reconocida con diferentes distinciones como el Premio Alfonso x a la Traducción Literaria por el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes inba 1998 y el Premio Edmundo O ‘Gorman en Teoría de la Historia por el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia inah 1999.
Mexican researcher, academic, translator, and editor. She completed her primary, secondary, and high school education at the German School. She holds a Master’s and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Her research focused on the history of ideas, particularly those of the early evangelizers. She was inducted into the Mexican Academy of Language (AML) as a full member on November 11, 2004, becoming the ninth occupant of chair number XIV.
She was a professor of History and Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (FFyL) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a researcher at the Coordinating and Disseminating Center for Latin American Studies (CCyDEL) at UNAM. She was known for her editorial work at the Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE), Siglo XXI, and UNAM. She translated from German, English, French, Italian, Catalan, and Latin.
Author of a dozen books. She was recognized with different distinctions such as the Alfonso X Prize for Literary Translation by the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) in 1998 and the Edmundo O’Gorman Prize in Theory of History by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) in 1999.
