Fanny Davenport, an American actress, daughter of the tragedian, E.L. Davenport. She was born in London, but was brought to America as a child, and when seven years old made her first appearance on the stage in Boston.
While playing in Philadelphia in 1869, she attracted the attention of Augustin Daly, who engaged her for the Fifth Avenue Theatre in New York where she became a favorite.
Later she visited the principal cities as a star, her greatest successes being in Sardou’s Fedora, La Tosca, and Cleopatra.

IW note: Davenport also started her own touring company in 1877.
