Ohio State University can claim some very early women chemical engineers: Helen S. Crooks (BSc 1923), Mary Bucher (MSc 1930) and Yun Hao (“Ruth”) Feng (PhD 1931), although unfortunately little else seems to be known about Crooks or Bucher.
