Es hija del periodista y escritor argentino Gregorio Selser. La familia llegó a México en 1976, tras el golpe militar en su país en ese año. Hizo estudios de Literatura en la Universidad de Buenos Aires y de Ciencia Política en la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales (fcpys) de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (unam). Ha colaborado en periódicos, revistas, estaciones de radio y de televisión, y en agencias internacionales de noticias en distintos países de América Latina. Fue corresponsal de prensa en Nicaragua (1982-1992), editora de la edición mexicana de Le Monde Diplomatique y secretaria de la Fundación Gregorio Selser. Recibió el Premio Latinoamericano de Periodismo José Martí, en 1991.
Irene Selser pertenece a la generación de latinoamericanos que vivieron bajo los regímenes militares de los años sesenta y setenta. Se ha dedicado al periodismo y es autora de novelas. El arca de los sueños es un recuento de vivencias personales y colectivas para reivindicar a todos aquellos que lucharon por un sistema social más justo.
She is the daughter of the Argentine journalist and writer Gregorio Selser. The family arrived in Mexico in 1976, following the military coup in Argentina that year. She studied Literature at the University of Buenos Aires and Political Science at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences (FCPS) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She has contributed to newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, and international news agencies in various Latin American countries. She was a press correspondent in Nicaragua (1982-1992), editor of the Mexican edition of Le Monde Diplomatique , and secretary of the Gregorio Selser Foundation. She received the José Martí Latin American Journalism Prize in 1991.
Irene Selser belongs to the generation of Latin Americans who lived under the military regimes of the 1960s and 70s. She has worked as a journalist and is the author of novels. The Ark of Dreams is a recounting of personal and collective experiences, a tribute to all those who fought for a more just social system.
