Julia Marlow, an American actress, real name Sarah Frances Frost, born in England, came to the United States in 1872 and appeared as a child in Pinafore in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Her professional career began in 1887 when she played Parthenia and Juliet in New York, but it was not until 1894 that she succeeded in establishing herself in general public recognition.
She was first married to Robert Taber from whom she obtained a divorce, and in 1911 was married to Edward H. Hothern with whom she acted in a notable series of Shakespearian productions. A dominant charm of Miss Marlow’s acting is its womanly loveliness, ardor, and romantic beauty with a poetic atmosphere and a refined dramatic intelligence.
In 1919 Miss Marlowe and Mr. Sothern returned to the stage after an absence of several years, and gave productions of Shakespeare’s plays that were welcomed by vast audiences throughout the United States.
