Juliet Clannon Cushing (1845-1935), an advocate of protective labor legislation for women and founded the Consumers’ League of New Jersey in 1900.
She served as its president for 30 years. Cushing was responsible for the introduction of the state factory inspection and advocated for limits on child labor.
