From Famous Women: An Outline of Feminine Achievement Through the Ages With Life Stories of Five Hundred Noted Women. Written by Joseph Adelman, published 1926 by Ellis M Lonow Company:
Louise Howland King Cox, an American painter, born in San Francisco, studied at the New York Academy under Kenyon Cox, whom she married in 1892. Her decorative work is of a high order, but she is at her best in her charming portraits of children, whom she portrays with delightful naturalism.
Mrs. Cox was elected a member of the National Academy of Design, and in 1900 was awarded a bronze medal at the Paris Exposition.
