Nació en Parras, Coahuila, el 29 de mayo de 1934; muere el 23 de marzo de 1994. Dramaturga, ensayista y poeta. Obtuvo el doctorado en Letras, especializado en Arte Dramático, en la UNAM; fue becaria en la Universidad de Yale; estudió Cine y Dirección Teatral en el Centro de Estudios Cinematográficos de Lodz, Polonia. Fue coordinadora del Cine Club de la UNAM y jefa de producción de Radio Universidad. Entre sus obras de teatro se encuentran La vida privada del profesor Kabela, El día que pisamos la luna, Las hermanitas de Acámbaro, Sangre de mi sangre, Sexualidades I y Sexualidades II. Adaptó y dirigió numerosas obras de teatro: El difunto y Picnic en el campo de batalla, El efecto de los rayos gamma sobre las caléndulas (de Paul Zindel), Aquelarre (de Friederich Zauner), Cuarteto (de E. A. Wilehead), Diálogos de refugiados, La Dorotea (de Lope de Vega), Las locas abuelas (de Fernández y Tejedor), Claudine en la escuela (basada en la novela de Collette), La hiedra (de Xavier Villaurrutia), Pedro Páramo (de Juan Rulfo), Pigmalión (de Bernard Shaw), Las amargas lágrimas de Petra von Kant (de Werner Fassbinder), El pozo de la soledad (de Radclyffe Hall) y Sida, así es la vida (adaptación de la obra Asis, de William Hoppman). Becaria del CME, 1967. Premio 1970, 1972 y 1974 a la mejor dirección de la AMCT. Premio El Heraldo 1980 a la mejor dirección.
She was born in Parras, Coahuila, on May 29, 1934, and died on March 23, 1994. A playwright, essayist, and poet, she earned a doctorate in Literature, specializing in Dramatic Arts, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She was a fellow at Yale University and studied Film and Theater Directing at the Center for Cinematographic Studies in Lodz, Poland. She coordinated the UNAM Film Club and was head of production at Radio Universidad. Her plays include The Private Life of Professor Kabela, The Day We Stepped on the Moon, The Little Sisters of Acámbaro, Blood of My Blood, Sexualities I, and Sexualities II. She adapted and directed numerous plays: The Deceased and Picnic on the Battlefield, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Marigolds (by Paul Zindel), Witches’ Sabbath (by Friedrich Zauner), Quartet (by E.A. Wilehead), Refugee Dialogues, La Dorotea (by Lope de Vega), The Mad Grandmothers (by Fernández and Tejedor), Claudine at School (based on the novel by Collette), The Ivy (by Xavier Villaurrutia), Pedro Páramo (by Juan Rulfo), Pygmalion (by Bernard Shaw), The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant (by Werner Fassbinder), The Well of Loneliness (by Radclyffe Hall), and AIDS, That’s Life (an adaptation of the play Assis by William Hoppman). She was a CME fellow in 1967 and received the AMCT Award for Best Director in 1970, 1972, and 1974. El Heraldo Award 1980 for best direction.
