Yolanda Vargas Dulché, narradora y dramaturga, ha sido una de las escritoras más leídas en México. Sus argumentos publicados en la revista “Lágrimas, risas y amor” han sido adaptados para cine y televisión. “María Isabel”, “Yesenia”, “Gabriel y Gabriela”, “Ladronzuela”, entre otras, son historias en que las protagonistas rompen el paradigma de mujer sumisa y que luchan por conseguir sus ideales. El alma de las cosas reúne los cuentos que publicó en El Universal y en Siempre! Vargas Dulché dio vida y voz a los objetos más comunes, los que comparten con el lector sus sentimientos: el teléfono olvidado recuerda las llamadas que recibió; un disfraz entiende su función de cubrir el rostro de una prostituta; los muebles lloran la muerte de sus dueños. En Cinco rostros de mujer un hombre recuerda sus amores al recibir un anónimo de la hija de una de sus antiguas amantes. Escribió piezas dramáticas como Celos, donde presentó la relación del escritor Ricardo Montero y su hijo Julio, quien al ganar un concurso literario despierta en su padre la envidia y el rencor. En La solterona, Carmen es víctima de una broma al ser invitada a una fiesta para que un joven la enamorase, sin saber que la víctima será, realmente, la autora de la broma. Madres… puras es una comedia que recrea el cambio en un convento al ingresar dos mujeres (la propia autora, entre ellas) quienes huyen de sus maridos. Ocho en París relata la historia de ocho maridos que escapan de sus esposas en búsqueda de aventuras.
Autodidacta, ingresó al mundo de las letras en 1941 al publicar cuentos cortos en El Universal; reportajes en el periódico Esto, en 1943, y argumentos para las historietas Chamaco Chico, de Novedades y Pepín, de la Cadena García Valseca, donde creó a “Memín Pinguín”, en 1945. En 1957 se separó de la empresa del coronel García Valseca y formó, con su esposo Guillermo de la Parra, la Editorial Argumentos, hoy Editorial Vid. Alcanzó el éxito después de tres años, con “Doctora Corazón”, “Confidencias de un chofer” y “Lágrimas, risas y amor”. Fue dueña de los Hoteles Kristal y de varios talleres tipográficos.

Her stories published in the magazine “Lágrimas, risas y amor” have been adapted for film and television. “María Isabel”, “Yesenia”, “Gabriel y Gabriela”, “Ladronzuela”, among others, are stories in which the protagonists break the paradigm of the submissive woman and fight to achieve their ideals. El alma de las cosas brings together the stories she published in El Universal and Siempre! Vargas Dulché gave life and voice to the most common objects, those that share their feelings with the reader: the forgotten telephone remembers the calls she received; a costume understands its function of covering the face of a prostitute; the furniture mourns the death of its owners. In Cinco rostros de mujer a man remembers her loves when she receives an anonymous note from the daughter of one of her former lovers. She wrote dramatic pieces such as Celos, which presents the relationship between the writer Ricardo Montero and her son Julio, who, upon winning a literary contest, awakens envy and resentment in her father. In La solterana, Carmen is the victim of a joke when she is invited to a party so that a young man will make her fall in love with her, without knowing that the victim will actually be the author of the joke. Madres… puras is a comedy that recreates the changes in a convent when two women (the author herself among them) enter, fleeing from their husbands. Ocho en París tells the story of eight husbands who escape from their wives in search of adventure.
Self-taught, she entered the world of letters in 1941 by publishing short stories in El Universal; reports in the newspaper Esto, in 1943, and plots for the comic strips Chamaco Chico, from Novedades and Pepín, from the García Valseca chain, where she created “Memín Pinguín”, in 1945. In 1957 she separated from Colonel García Valseca’s company and formed, with her husband Guillermo de la Parra, the Argumentos Publishing House, today Editorial Vid. She achieved success after three years, with “Doctora Corazón”, “Confidencias de un chofer” and “Lágrimas, risas y amor”. She was the owner of the Kristal Hotels and several typographic workshops.
