Doreen McCarthy was appointed Foundation Head of the School of Nursing at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Western Australia, in the later 1990s. She was appointed Member of the Order of Australia, 26 January 1997, for service to nursing administration though the Royal Perth Hospital and the Fremantle Hospital.
