Madame Zarudny-Cavoss was the daughter of Senator S, J. Zariidny, one of the authors of the judicial reform in Russia in 1864, and member of the Commission for the liberation of peasants in 1861. Madame was especially famous for her portraits: the best known are those of the philosopher Vladimir Soliviev, the celebrated jurist Anatoli Koni, the popular actress Commisargevsky, and the political leader Roditcheff. These portraits were greeted enthusiastically by the art critics. Her portrait of the historian Bestugev-Rumin was acquired by the Tretiakov Gallery in Moscow.
