Associate Professor Kudzai Kanhutu is a powerful advocate for health systems and gender equity.
In 2015, she established a first of its kind telehealth service. Rural culturally and linguistically diverse patients are now able to access to specialist medical treatment and interpreter services via video.
As a direct result of her work, the Royal Melbourne Hospital expanded its existing telehealth operations by over 2,000% . This was in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kudzai is the first woman to hold the role of Dean of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in the College’s 85 year history. As Dean, she supports the education and professional journeys of over 31,000 medical specialists in Australia and New Zealand.
Her leadership in driving community health improvements is acknowledged through many awards. She also has a Ministerial appointment to the Australian Multicultural Council.
Kudzai serves as a living example of migrant women’s success in Australia.
